The Importance of Sun Protection After Electrolysis...Don't Leave My Office Without It!

No electrologist would deny the importance of sun protection after treatment. After electrolysis your skin is highly susceptible to hyperpigmentation, and burning from the sun. As well skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with many new cases diagnosed each year. Many can be prevented by proper protection. Melanoma, attributed primarily to UV exposure, is the most deadly form of skin cancer. UVA rays, the most abundant source of solar UV radiation at the earth’s surface, penetrate beyond the top layer of skin and are the primary cause of premature skin aging. UVA can even pass through glass, for example while in the car driving. UVB rays penetrate less deeply, and are the cause of sunburn. There are mineral blocks and chemical blocks.  Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide are the only two mineral based sunscreen ingredients. Titanium Dioxide effectively protects in the UVB and into the UVA range, Zinc Oxide is effective against both UVA and UVB rays. Sunscreens with Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide protect the skin primarily by reflection, refraction, diffusion, and absorption. I highly recommend mineral blocks to help protect my clients skin after treatment.
